Savoury Avocado Smoothie

If you like avocado, this is a really refreshing and a filling drink. You can have it as a snack or with your meal. I love to have it as a breakfast drink!

Avocado is a super food even though it is low in protein because it supplies good vital amino acids. 1 cup of avocados provide nutrient dense 235 calories. Avocados are also a good source of Vitamin K, which plays a role in proper blood and bone function along with potassium, heart healthy folic acid, B6, a powerful antioxidant Vitamin C and also a good source dietary fiber.

The majority of calories in Avocados come from heart healthy mono saturated fat just like the one in olive oil, olive and nuts.

Are avocados okay to eat often? It's recommended that a certain percentage of our caloric intake should come from healthy fats. My answer is always in moderation! I keep my avocado intake 3-4 times a week along with other healthy fats which may also provide other nutrients that avocado doesn't provide.


Savoury Avocado Smoothie

Serves 2


Ingredients:

  • 1 avocado

  • 2 baby cucumbers

  • 2 tbsp Lemon or lime juice or orange juice (Freshly squeezed)

  • 1 tsp lemon or lime or orange zest

  • 1 cup of ice

  • 1 cup of coconut water

  • Sea Salt and Pepper to taste

  • Cucumber slices to garnish

  • 1 tsp dulse, milled (Garnish) per glass


Instructions:

  • Blend all the ingredients except the garnish, dulse and cucumber slices, in a powerful blender. Pour in a glass, sprinkle dulse, and garnish with cucumber slices.
